City Grass Clippings
You may be unaware that the Public Works Dept. does not pick up loose grass from the curbside with the vacuum truck anymore. Please be advised that you can rent a brown cart for your grass clippings to be picked up once a week (Thursdays) from April – October. The brown carts are $30 annually. Grass clippings can also be brought to our courtesy recycling center at 201 West A Avenue.
While transitioning to our first full season of collecting grass clippings from the brown carts, the Department is currently gathering information of grass clippings in the carts along with small shrubbery trimmings. Currently, we have learned that we can deliver grass clippings, leaves, shrubbery trimmings and flowers which have been pulled from beds, in the grass carts to our end customer for their use in composting.
Residents that would like to have their grass clippings picked up weekly should call the Public Works office at 864-855-7916 to request a brown grass cart. Invoices will be sent in December 2023 for the 2024 grass cart fee. Grass clipping season will be from around April 1 through around October 1 each year and will be picked up on Thursday of each week. We will be monitoring the volume of collections so if we do not get into your neighborhood on Thursday, please leave your cart out at curbside and we will complete the route on Friday.
Carts must be placed out by 7:00 a.m. for collection.
